Dear fiends ! No food is absolutely appropriate for everyone .Some food which are good for one condition may be bad for another condition. I would try to explain you for your healthy dietary choice.

Many people suffer from inadequate secretion of thyroid hormones from their thyroid glands. My article is focused on that condition. Thyroid hormone has Iodine as important element. So our body needs iodine to make thyroid hormone. If we do not have enough Iodine in our diet, we suffer from hypothyroidism .In this condition our thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones.

Thyroid gland is located in the neck as shown in figure above. If the thyroid hormone is not secreted in our body in adequate amount we have many symptoms like intolerance to cold, weight gain ,high cholesterol in blood, collection of water around our heart etc. So iodine in our diet is essential. For salt manufacturers it is mandatory to iodize the common salt(sodium chloride).Such administrative control is aimed for prevention of iodine deficiency disorders in population.

There are some vegetables which are not good for you if you are suffering from hypothyroidism. The reason is, some chemicals found in those vegetables, bind with iodine and prevents iodine to be absorbed in your blood. This causes poor bioavailability of iodine.

Such vegetables are

1.Cauliflower.

2. Cabbage

3.Broccoli

4.Bottle Gourd

5.Bitter Gourd

6.Pumpkin

Above described vegetables have excellent nutritious value but for thyroid disorders those vegetables should be restricted because those vegetables are goitrogens or Goiter producing due to their Iodine binding chemicals and causing iodine deficiency.

So in nutshell, you should avoid above vegetables in excess amount ,if you have thyroid problems. And you should take reliable branded iodized salt for daily use.
