Aloe Vera is attracting huge consumer base with excellent educational backgrounds. Here we would review the darker side of Aloe Vera to make aware of its dangers. Aloe genus is found to be toxic. Toxicity may range from diarrhea, abortion, cytotoxic effects to cancer. Local application on skin for therapeutic purpose is not yet determined experimentally. Even in the rats with second degree burns the aloe vera paste applied showed actual delay in the wound healing in comparison to untreated rats. So, the take home message is Beware from Pseudo medical ads which takes some excerpts of normal anatomy and physiology and add the false details not backed up by actual research, to sell you the product with little or no benefit but have the potential to cause you more harm in terms of your health and your money.
