DEVELOPMENTAL QUOTIENT and INTELLIGENCE QUOTIENT
in this video we will be discussing about developmental quotient and intelligence quotient
starting off with developmental quotient :
DQ= Developmental age divided by chronological age * 100; here developmental age is the age milestone needs to be achieved normally and chronological age is the age of the child by his / her Date of birth .
Suppose a child of 6 years has attained milestones of that of a 3 year old only . Now calculate its DQ .
Then 3 years / 6 years * 100 = 50 percent
now if by calculating the DQ is less than 70 percent , that it is significant developmental delay
Now let’s come to intelligence quotient:
IQ = Mental age divided by chronological age * 100. As discussed previously in DQ the chronological age is the actual age of the child .
If the score is less than 70, then it is intellectual disability or ID
SO we can see significant impairment in intellectual functioning , social and adaptive skill .
now if the IQ score is 51 to 70 , then that’s mild ID or intellectual disability.
If the score is 36 to 50 , then that’s moderate ID
If the score is 21 to 35 then that’s severe ID
if the score is 0 to 20, then that’s profound id.
So this is all about DQ and IQ .Thank you !
