It is a cluster of syndrome that share marked abormalities in a development of social or communicative skills
So how do we identify it ?
.persistent impairment in social interaction which means if you’re similing at the child , he or she’s not smiling back to you . If you’re looking at the child he or she’s not looking back to you .
.Presence of restricted , repitititve behaviour or interest . Suppose if the child is having a habit of playing with a toy in a particular manner , he’ll be very restricted and repetitive to it in the same manner .
.failure to develop peer relationships
.lack of sharing of enjoyment
. Qualitative impairment in communication in at least one of the following areas , like delay or total lack of spoken language ,
so we can do screening test

What is MCHAT ?
It’s the modified checklist of autism of toddlers valid for toddlers between 16 to 30 months of age
It’s an autism test about the toddlers behaviour to screen for autism
Now what are the risk factors of Autism spectrum disorder ??
. Closer pregnancies ..
. Any family member with sone learning or psychological disorder
. Excessive screen time
. Extreme prematurity which is less than 26 weeks of gestation
. Neurological disorders like tuberous sclerosis and fragile x .
How do we manage it ?
We can provide with CBT or cognitive behavioural therapy starting before 3 years of age
. For hyperactivity we can give drugs like atomixetine or methylphenidate .
. We can help the child to do more social interaction.
