Hi guys I am back with another video , in this video we will be discussing about the normal anthropometric factors like the weight , so how do we measure weight ? In infants if they are less than 10 kgs, the pan or the basket type of weighing scales are used. In older children the platform type of weighing scales are used, so what are the precautions we should take while checking the weight of the baby ? Let us come to know about it , : the baby should wear minimal clothes , for small babies remove the diaper if possible ,zero weight should be before measuring , the entire baby should be In pan and let the weight stabilize, birth weight of an average Indian baby is 2.9 kgs. Now let us come to know about the actual weight in different age groups : for 0 to 3 months it’s 30 gms /day . For 3 to 6 months it’s 20 gms / day . For 6 to 9 months it’s 16 gms / day . For 9 to 12 months it’s 12 gms / day . For 1 to 3 years it’s 8 gms / day. Now let us come to know about the expected weight at different age groups: if the weight of the baby is w then within 5 months ,the weight will be 2 multiplied by w that is 2w, similarly within one year it will be 3w, within 2 years it will be 4w, within 3 years it will be 5w, within 5 years it will be 6w, within 7 years it will be 7w and within 10 years it will be 10w . The birth weight doubles itself at 5 months of age , now let us come to know about the formula for calculating the expected weight of a child :
Less than 1 year the formula for calculating is (x+9)/2 where x stands for age ,
For one to six years the formula 2x + 8; where x is age In years. This is what we have known about the anthropometric factors of weight in this video , see you in the next video . Thank you !
