Leon Benson and Kolleen Bunch: Indianapolis: I am somewhat late on this one (by Reporter Joe Schroeder, Fox 59 News), but this is truly an extraordinary wrongful conviction lawsuit, as according to their attorneys, the pair are the “first known exoneree and victim’s family to file suit against officers” in a wrongful conviction case - and together, they are seeking “justice for the tragic damage” they say their families have endured since the murder of Kasey Schoen.."Multiple Indianapolis police officers are being sued by a man who was wrongfully imprisoned for 25 years for a murder he didn’t commit. The lawsuit claims IMPD officials framed the man and buried evidence that led to the real killer. Leon Benson and Kolleen Bunch filed a lawsuit in Marion County earlier this month against three Indianapolis police officers. The pair are arguing the officers “railroaded” Benson into spending nearly 25 years of his life in a maximum-security prison for crimes he did not commit. Benson, the first person to be exonerated by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office Conviction Integrity Unit, and Bunch, the sister of murder victim Kasey Schoen, filed the suit on May 8."
Neonatal nurse Lucy Letby: An expert witness has condemned claims by Lucy Letby's lawyer that he has changed his mind over the cause of death for three of Lucy Letby’s victims, as‘ unsubstantiated’ and ‘inaccurate,’" The Guardian reports, noting that: "On Tuesday, Evans said: “Mr Mark McDonald’s observations regarding my evidence is unsubstantiated, unfounded, inaccurate. “His method of presenting his information reflects clear prejudice and bias. I find his style most unedifying, most unprofessional. “It’s highly disrespectful to the families of babies murdered and harmed by Lucy Letby.”
Robert Roberson: Death Row: Texas: Major (Welcome) Development: Bulletin: Up-date to follow on this site: Extraordinary Event: He will be testifying at the Texas capital on Friday (December 20, 2024), The Dallas Morning News reports..."Roberson's case faces scrutiny for reliance on Shaken Baby Syndrome."
Stephen Wayne 'Shorty' Jamieson: Jane Balding case: Onlookersgasped in court as one of the men convicted of murdering bank teller Janine Balding was excluded from matching key DNA evidence, AAP (Reporter Luke Costin) reports, noting that, "Stephen Wayne "Shorty" Jamieson is serving a life sentence for leading a gang of five youths in the 20-year-old woman's 1988 abduction, rape and murder, which stunned the nation. Despite signing a confession, the 58-year-old convicted killer has long protested his innocence, pointing to a bandana used to gag Balding as proof."
Neonatal Nurse Lucy Letby: Major (Quite Stunning) Development: "The New York Times (International Correspondent Megan Specia) reports that the defence team for the British nurse found guilty of murdering babies in her care, said on Monday that it will ask the Court of Appeal to review all of her convictions, because the lead prosecution expert has changed his mind about how three of the babies died…."The development shines a critical spotlight onto Ms. Letby’s convictions for the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of seven others at a hospital in northern England between 2015 and 2016. The case shocked Britain but has increasingly been viewed by some experts as a possible miscarriage of justice."
